Artist's Comments

This is an old one, but because I still love all that very hard work of crosshatching - yes this is done ENTIRELY in ballpoint pen - I decided to post it. I'm also happy with the composition, with the head intruding into the space like a hurtling asteroid. With a cigar. Someone call NASA...

Just pen. My trusty ballpoint. It was slavery. Slavery! :aww:

Now I just need to learn how to do that cross-hatching technique. LOL :-)

It's pretty much a technique born out of an extreme desire to emulate my personally preferred pencil gradient thing... I'm so afraid of change!

The hatching is great. Makes for a sculptural texture, almost like he's roughed out in clay.

It's a very cool, if somewhat grotesque, image.
:iconpiuccheperfetto:
I do have a great fondness for vague grotesquerie... :D

HA! Cramer! I never thought of that. Cramer! I love Cramer. I suppose, since you can't see the end of it, the cigar could be unlit, therefore qualifying him to be thought of as Cramer. Never occurred to me.
